Laurie Tomlin CHURCH GATE, 1981  £50.00

An original watercolour measuring 24.5 x 16cm (10 x 6.75") (see scan). The lychgate of St. Nicholas Church, Rodmersham in 1981. There was probably a place of worship on this site in the early 12th century, and it is recorded that Henry II gifted the church to the influential Order of the Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem. Their liberal spending over many years has resulted in a church in a variety of architectural styles that can still be seen today.

An original watercolour measuring 26.5 x 16.2 cm (10.75 x 6.5") (see scan). This steep hill leads out of the Highsted Valley and up to Rodmersham Green. The area depicted here will change drastically if the plans for the M2 to A2 Link Road ever come to pass.
